چکیده
This study investigated the surface residual stress for AISI 1045 steel quenched by a YAG laser. A coaxial laser spindle was installed on CNC machine experiment. The motion arranged to follow path of an extended cycloid which widened quenching area surface. Both temperature distribution and stresses were measured thermocouples portable X-ray diffractometer, respectively. When cooled down near value room temperature, then after process. diffractometer used single exposure with two-dimensional detector calculate Debye–Scherrer ring (D-S ring) determination normal shear stresses. Different powers exploited measurement stresses, including 500, 600, 700, 900 watts. In addition experiment, analytic model investigation built finite element analysis MSC Marc used. assumption FEA that spot had circular shape uniform energy thermal–elastic–plastic applied simulation experimental results excellent consistency maximum difference 10.5% from numerical also revealed compressive laser-quenching treatment could be neglected compared stress.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of quenching and tempering temperatures on the microstructure, mechanical properties and the wear characteristics of medium carbon-high chromium wear resistant steel. In addition, the dominant wear mechanisms were studied. For this purpose, austenitizing and tempering temperatures were selected in the ranges of 900- 1000 °C and 300- 500...
متن کاملMeasurement of residual stress in quenched 1045 steel by the nanoindentation method
Article history: Received 12 September 2010 Accepted 27 September 2010 In this paper, the residual stress in quenched AISI 1045 steel was measured by a recently developed nanoindentation technique. Depth control mode was adopted to measure the residual stress. It was found that residual compressive stress was generated in the quenched steel. The material around nanoindents exhibits significant ...
